John qualified from University College Dublin in 2012 and then headed north, where he spent four years working in mixed practice in Derry and Fermanagh. It was during these early years working in both large and small animal practices that John developed his passion for surgery.
With this in mind he decided that a change of scenery was in order and moved to London where he worked in the well-known animal charity - The Celia Hammond Animal Trust. John spent two years working there during which time he refined his skills in both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. In 2019 he completed the post graduate RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery with the University of Liverpool, making him one of the few vets in this country to hold the Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery status.
John moved back to Dublin and joined the Anicare team in June 2018. John spends most of his time working in Anicare's Clontarf Veterinary hospital and treats most of the more complicated and challenging orthopaedic cases referred from both within the Anicare Veterinary Group and other practices.
Outside of work John enjoys football, running and cooking and he is also a keen skier. To relax John enjoys nothing more than a long walk with his dog Blossom - a rescue Golden Retriever.
